I am going Saturday to look at a sears 16/6. It is a survivor. 42" cut. Un restored. Looks really nice.

Anything I should really look at to make sure it's good? What to watch for basically. Things that would make it hard to make it in working PERFECT working condition.

I want to branch out and I really like this tractor.

Test drive, watch, and listen the same as with any used machine. Good Luck, Rick

Make sure it runs well before saying it runs right. Little things like a miss can turn into larger issues with this coil.
The aluminum hubs; make sure there isn't a bunch of slop in them. They are usually fine, but you want to be certain or at least aware.
Be very careful with the grill, they are not cheap to replace.

BTW, the deck bearings are changeable. It requires you to go to confession later, but they are changeable.

The Onan is a wonderful piece of equipment that is a truely fun machine to run. You will enjoy it once you have any bugs worked out.

And I didn't get to go.  I'm sure you guys seen my threads about the baby might be coming.

In the morning my wife wasn't feeling well, and being the good husband I am I called the guy and told him I needed to reschedule.  He said he would wait for me, I told him he had a buyer sell it since it would be a week before I am free again.

I am glad I didn't go.  I wouldn't of felt right driving 2 hours one way to look at a tractor when my wife is pregnant and hurting.

Yea, where was it at? I know there is a decent looking 16/6 down mine way.

The 16/6 was only made in '77, That's what my main tractor is. Same as the ST16, just name change.

Tractor is up near Pittsburgh PA.  I asked him what he best cash and hand price was.  If its close enough to what I am thinking I will send my Dad after it and have him pick it up for me without me seeing it.  From the pictures this thing looks in awesome shape.  But I am always out to get things as cheap as possible.

I have already been making plans.  New Ag tires on the back(just because I love ags) and I want to try a set of the tri-ribs on the front.

Been looking at paint colors....

I wanted to keep it as a working girl survivor, but I think it will get a "refurbishment" as someone called it on my "do you use your restored tractors" thread.

This will end up being my primary grass cutting tractor if I buy it.  I know Dad will steal it often to use it.

That looks like a nice tractor for it's age and the price the seller is asking. If you need some one to pick it up and hold it for you I maybe able to help. I am roughly 20 minutes away from where the tractor is located.

I agree its a good price.  If I could get him down 50 bucks to cover gas I would happy!
