Never thought we would have our 24' above ground pool this long . We got it the year my son was born 25 years ago , it still has the original liner , but every year we need to make another  "make-shift" repair . The kids aren't home any more but my wife's  big baby loves jumping in , so we open it for him .

Al, what's really amazing is the fact that the dog's claws hasn't destroyed the liner in all those years. My dog loves the pool also and he gets in all the time.

I still remember the day I came home from work and my daughter was in the pool with the dog for his first time , he was about 4-5 months old then . I told her that I was going to build a ramp so he could climb out with ripping the liner and I would come in to get him out for now .. She said " don't bother , he can get out by himself ", and he climbed the ladder just like in the picture . For the first few years we had a piece of carpet right behind the ladder just in case  but not any more .

Dog swims and climbs a pool ladder better than I do.
Thanks for sharing, that was a great morning smile for all of us.

Do you still have the same dog as when you opened the pool?

Looks like he really enjoys the water. Almost makes me want to jump in with him.

That's nice to open the pool for the dog.  He looks like he really loves it.

I don't know anything about pools, but all the above grounds I've seen don't last that long.  Nice maintenance I'd say.

No we only had him 5 years , got him as a pup. I never wanted a dog then Easter 5 years ago my daughter get a pic text from a boy wanting to know if she wanted a dog , She asked in from of the whole family and of course I said NO like I always did and then my wife of 24 years  turned ( mind you every person / family had at least one dog that was there ) and said " I always wanted one but know Al didn't  " they all looked at me like I just told a 5 year old that there's no such thing as Santa . " Fine fine you can get a dog but I want NO PART of it "  And then I found out we had to PAY FOR A DOG what the heck is that all about .   He's been a great dog , always greets me with a  shoe or stuff toy, always happy , willing to help me finish my meals  , gives me more  kisses  then my wife too lol

Nice story about the dog Al. Great to know the pool has done so well for so long. We had an above ground pool where we used to live but the current home has an inground pool. I know the water seemed to warm faster in the above ground probably because the sun not only heated the water but the sides of the pool. I read your post on Brian's thread about the cool weather on Saturday. George did a Father's Day cookout on Saturday and my wife had her sweater on. We still had six kids in the pool.

Yep! Pools! The OTHER Money Pit! This one is for the wife tho, I never go in. Grandkids like it. Course, I'm the repair and set-up guy for it all the time. We've had ours about that long. Bought it used years ago. New liner then, and new liner couple years ago. the liners only patch so long, then the vinyl gets brittle and even the glue won't soak in anymore or the tapes won't adhere. Just had to buy a new sand filter, have replaced pump motors before, hoses all the time, ladder mounts break constantly. As said "Money Pit". Wife's got her's here, Mine are in garage!  Her words, not mine! :D
