I got to mow with the FF20 for about 20 minutes and had issues. Belt smoke and noise from under the cover. So I took it back off and took the cover off. Found the idler pulley had decided to sipt the ball bearings out. Belt was a bit overused also. I got things gathered together and went to TSC to see what I could find to fix it. I was able to find an idler that will work and a new deck belt. But no new drive belt, out of stock there. Should have some in by next weekend. Here's the goodies:

After things dry up out there, I'll get it back together! Need to sharpen the blades more. They were nearly round before and I didn't want to take too much off to start & lose the temper on them. So I'll work on them some more before I reinstall the deck.

Kenny, you might check at lowes or home depot for the belt today so you don't have to wait. Glad you found the rest of the parts.

I may run down to Atwoods later. I'll check with them. The PTO drive belt (5/8" X 100") is easily changed.

Just didn't know if you could wait a week to mow, my grass is growing about an 1" a day with all this rain we keep getting.

The drive belt is still usable, so is the deck belt. But, I figured while I was in there, might as well put a new one on. I need to squirt a bit more grease into the spindles as one is a bit noisy. May have to look into new bearings for it soon! I'll check it out more when it dries up after a bit.

Kenny, does this deck have the usual tapered Timken bearings?

Don't know Daniel. The parts list does not show a breakdown of the spindles. It does have a 3/4" shaft in it.

All the decks under the earlier SS/ST/GT series had Timken tapered in them.

I'll know when I get there, Daniel! And I will list part #'s when that happens!

The spindles have zerks, so just need to keep after maintenance on them.
