Not hard for me to do that.  If a bear came at me, the pants filled thing would be automatic, as well as passing out next!

I am thinking the Counter Assult brand is going to be what I go with, longer spray time, little more capacity, same or higher OC% than competition.


I will let you know what I finally do buy and pray I never have to report how it worked.

I think your confused. That advise was for potential rape victims. Of course, it might be a boy bear . . .

Alan, I think the one you have chosen will do a good job.  


Aim for the face.  You want it to get into it's eyes, nose and throat.  


A whistle on a lanyard might be a good way to start.  If it doesn't leave after the noise, get the spray ready.  If I'm worried about black bears and am not hunting for them, I carry a whistle, spray and a .44 magnum Smith and Wesson.


My experience with black bears is not huge, but......   They don't like noise.  In the Adirondacks, when they visited camp, just looking for food, we chased them off by banging on pots and pans.  They will tear a car apart, shred tents and generally make a mess.


****Make darn sure you don't get between the cubs and mama.  That's a big deal and get's mama plenty mad****
