I have always loved the look of the Massey Ferguson tractors so I finally picked some up. They obivously need a full restoration; were in a field and plan was to make one from the two tractors. However, I only have one transmission which is a hydrostatic and is on the frame with no hood. I was going to use the sheet metal off the other tractor (MF 10) to make a complete tractor. I have a Tecumseh HH120 in need in a rebuild that came with it which I know would have been in the 12.
I initally thought I had two 10's and the engine for a 12; plan was to just make that into a restored 10 as the HH100 and HH120 are pretty much identical other than I think some displacement. The more I look however; it seems that the 12 was availble as the hydro or variable speed and the 10 just came with the variable speed. If that I so I guess I will have a MF 12 with 10 sheet metal; just wondering if I am correct or did the 10 come in hydro? So to sum up my questions:
1. Did the 10 come in a hydrostatic?
2. Is the sheet metal the same for the 10 and 12 except for decals?
3. Are the 10 and 12 the same just with different engines?
I guess the answers to those questions will determine whether I look for more parts and try to build and 10 and a 12 or just make them into one if they will be compatible.
Thanks for any help and info. Massy's are new to me but I have always dreamed of owning a restored one.
