I have now completed 26 years at my job and a lot of things happened in the last 6 months. I work in water and sewer maintenance

for the Aurora, Ill Public Works Department. November 30,2013 I was promoted to equipment operator, a position I have wanted for

19 years. 6 weeks ago I became a certified backhoe/loader operator, trained and tested by Caterpillar trainer. As fate would have it

my operator position was short lived. This past Monday I was promoted again to labor supervisor. This is a great opportunity which I

will take full advantage of for my last 7 1/2 years. This position is and will be stressful for a while as I get used to all the new duties

associated with organizing up to 5 crews at a time.

Congrat's to you, Geno. Is Aurora's facilities up to date and sized correctly? Nothing more frustrating than the headaches of an overloaded treatment plant or having to work to enforce (or even suggest) watering bans in the summer.

We have watering bans mandatory every summer. Our treatment plant is up to date and has the capacity. We use a combination of river and well water. The powers that be are trying to conserve. In the maintenance department we are understaffed and fight against it constantly. It will be challenging to learn to manage and I am looking forward to it.

Congratulations!

From 1973 to 1990 I was the water/wastewater super for a small community. I figured I would work here for my entire working carrer, but small town elections produce idiots on the town council and I couldn't take it any longer!

In 1996 I got back into the waste water treatment from the industrial side.
