This may have been answered but in my search on the forum I have found conflicting advice.  I did get the filter information but I am still unclear what hydro oil I should put in my MF 16 and the quanity of oil (5 quarts?).

 

Any advice is appreciated.

Not sure about a MF14 but in general there are usually a few choices. Have you checked the manuals section for an MF14/16 operating manual. That would give you the original factory recommended oil. Sometimes motor oil was used or transmission fluid. For many older tractors there are now modern hydrostatic drive fluids that will do the job and were not available when the tractors were produced. I'm sure someone with direct experience will be along to make a recommendation.

Run "Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil" I use Ultramar brand in mine but it really makes no difference. Not sure on what the quantity is, been awhile since I filled mine up. I vaugely remember it being more than one gallon though, so 5 quarts sounds right.
