I just picked up a 211-5 last week and I am having some trouble with wiring. It has an 11 hp vertical shaft briggs. The wire that comes from the stator is spliced in with the headlight wire with resistors and goes to "r" (rectifier) on the ignition even though it does not have a rectifier! One of the resistors broke in half and started smoking. I want to just get rid of the headlights and hook the charging wire back up, but when I put it back to the "r" terminal it does not charge the battery (I checked the stator and it is working fine) and the amp gauge does not work either. Any ideas where to hook up that wire to get this thing to charge? Any help is appreciated!

I believe the wire for the charge is + and the headlight is 12v-. You can get a new wire with both diodes on eBay for $20
