For those of you unschooled, that is Tractor-Rescue 911!

I was mowing with the MTD and heard strange noises. Thought an idler pulley was going out. Turned a corner and the rear end locked up tight! Had to get the FF and boom pole to drag it back up to the staging area!

That ought to teach you that you shouldn't mow with an MTD.  :D

This poor old LT has mowed stuff 3' higher than it is tall. It has led a very good (though rough) life and I wouldn't be afraid to get another one!

Well, you are lucky you had a "wrecker" close by!

Not sure AAA would cover this job!

I don't think there is an easy fix. Both back tires are locked up. She's had a good life, on her 2nd engine!

Sorry to hear a faithful and reliable old machine gave up on you Kenny. There are an awful lot of MTD machines out there and most people do not value them highly. I have little doubt you can find another and make a good one out of the two.
Bet it would be a toss up as to whether MTDor Murray sells the most machines.
I got a 22 hp Murray when i bought this place and have beat it unmercifilly . First year I usedit to shred 7 acres of cornstalks. It just keeps pounding away. I have to take back every bad thing I have said about the Murrays and Ihave had a couple good MTD lawn tractors too.

It's been a tough old mower, for sure! I may have to put the deck on an FF to replace it.
