Spent from 7 am till 5 pm working on getting the house ready for paint next weekend. Not sure when the house was last painted but it's in poor shape paint wise.

Pressure washing, scrapping, and scrubbing with bleach and soap. Next weekend Friday to Sunday painting.

Also managed to leave my cell phone on the hood of my truck and drove down the road and sent it skidding down the pavement. Cracked the glass. As hard as it hit at 50 mph I'm surprised it still works.

Snapped these pictures with my cracked phone

I know how you feel. I spent about 6 hours scraping my front porch soffitt and then 2 coats of paint.

I think i got more paint on me than the soffitt! Tomorrow i am starting to pressure wash the wooden front porch in prep of new stain.

I have that same house from there , but have so much broke down that don't know if I will get to it. I am already planing stuff to do next summer, because I won't get it done this year. I think I did that last year too. Noel

When ya get finished, drive over to Cincy for a few days..... or weeks :smilewink:

I dread it too. I have box gutter soffit repair that needs done also, 2 stories up on a ladder....not sure. We maybe getting some help from the local low income building help dept since my mom is on fixed income to get some labor done on her house.

Haha.  I should be able to complete the main body of the house with 3 of us painting in one weekend.  I hope so anyway!

One side I didn't take a picture of will be a pain in the butt to get to!  It will have to be all done off ladders.  Most of what I have can be done off roof or the ground or a small step ladder.

My upstairs is in the A frame part of the house.  So there is only 2 second story walls, and one can be done off the garage roof, and the other one is the bad side.

Not sure if you can get mine done in 1 weekend, but you can try   :poke:  :D

You can't see in my pic, but both sides have additions and the lower roof peak doesn't match the upper gable of the main house so can't just straddle ladder over the side additions and climb up. Gotta make some type of platform on lower roof and then put ladder up. I am really hoping that group can come help out mom, will take alot of stress off me to climb up there.

I'm hoping the 3 days of painting will net me the house painted without the soffit and such done.  I can go back later and paint that at my leisure.

I got a good start tonight. I only got 2 hours of work in before it got dark. But I got around the garage doors and the front porch area done.

Tomorrow is the big day. Mom and dad are coming up at 8 am and we are going to be painting fiends. I hope to get it all done but the dreaded tall side that all has to be done from ladder. Then I am going to do that next weekend then the soffit and trim the weekend after.

It is hard getting stuff done being gone 4 nights a week but 7 months down! Before I know it my tour will be over

Met my goal in 7 hours of painting!

It went well. One wall left to paint, trim, garage doors, and new gutters to put up.

Paint went on extremely easy in one good coat. Valspar plus. Used 3 gallons so far.

I am sore.
