We are getting close to disassembly and paint. Just thought I would post some pics you all can look at. It started as a 100 and now has a 25 hp Kohler. The motor will go to the shop for performance work. My son wants 80-100 H.P. He does all the machine work and building himself.

That's some nice sheet metal work!!!
Are they required to have some sort of deck on them?
is this for fun or do you actually have races in your area?

Interesting. I've always wanted to go see one of these races. There's a track not far from me but I never seem to get the time to go. Good luck!

There is a local race coming up on June 14th. he bought two others but was not happy with them. He wanted a Deere. A 100 came up so he bought it.. It has a snowmobile clutch and a 1.5 to 1 right angle gear box . The motor , gear box and rear axle are fully adjustable for belt and chain adjustment .

Very nice fabrication work! What are you using for a rear end in it.

It is a solid chain driven 1 inch axle with an ATV sprocket and hydaulic disc brake. Axle blocks were fabricated to move the bearings outward for stability. The snowmobile style clutch spins a mower deck right angle gear box which turns the drive sprocket.
Right now with the new gear box 1.5 to 1 verses the 1 to 1 that was on it . It is very quick. It spins the tires and pulls the wheels up. the settles down when the clutch starts to shift and hits over 60 mph
We are hoping to increase speed and with more HP. the clutch still drags the motor down on the top end with only 25 HP. 100.HP. should wake it up.
One thing I should tell you is nothing is ever fast enough with my son.

Very nice fabrication work!! Looks awesome. I would like to get better pics of the drivetrain if you could, I am not sure I understand how the rite angle gear box fits in there. If it is a gear box from a mower deck do you think it will be tough enough to take that kind of hp?

I'd assume its set up like that, and using one built for a gokart or high RPM application.

I will get some pics after paint while it is being assembled. Its a little heavy but the weight will be needed. It would have American Racers but . One race calls for Turf tires and another you have to put on AG tires. Must have the lawn or garden tractor frame any motor is legal. If you feel comfortable straddling a V8 you can do it. This is a bunch of country boys that are getting together to have some fun. There is a dirt oval and then a mud slick trail race with some high speed jumps. I'm sitting on the truck until its over.

That has got to be the cleverest use of a mower deck gear box!

Beautiful fabrication work. That little chain and gear box is going to have it's hands full with 100hp.

Looks like fun. I've seen it on the tele, never in person, would love to. You can get 100 horses out of a 25 horse eng? Holly mackerel!! I had no idea those racers had that much power.

Wow. And here it thought some of the GT pullers were insane.
