They're used to the "Box" stores.

I had one of those buyers once...but he was very serious. He wanted something 'vintage' and visited me a second time with a rental pickup, to retrieve the 'mower'. I nearly bought it back a month later when it reappeared on craigslist.

I've gotten replies where they didn't even use the right brand of tractor in the response.

Top reason to suspect a spammer.  I had a guy right me about a tractor over the weekend and asked if I still had my motorcycle.

Really?

I didn't know it looked that powerful.  I should have written back and said, "yeah, its a Harley in disguise and I want 10000 for it!"

When the dad gets out, but the teenager does the looking. And asks what he has to do to make it do 35 mph.

'Get your ass off my property' is the correct response in that scenerio, btw.

I will simply not sell a thing to someone who utters the words, "Modify" "Repower" or "Racing mower"

They are going to have a bank cheque drawn against their offshore account and a courier will drop the check and pick up the tractor.

Does anyone know somebody who has been one of those couriers? How do I go about getting that job?

Awhile this isn't always true, but has normally been the best indicator for me.

The person who wants to purchase your tractor shows up in a vehicle that is worth less money than the tractor you are selling.

Now this isn't always true as I have my old ranger I use to pick up my stuff with that is probably worth less than most nice GTs..

Well, I know never to try to buy something from you... :(

:rolling:

That statement is really true and also really applies in the antique tractor world.
