Classic Sears Custom!

A few pictures of my tractor which was also given to me 15 years ago. It runs well after coating the gas tank with the stuff you can get at Orileys, a new battery and a carb rebuild. Also got a front blade, deck and 3pt hitch with it.

I'll add pictures of the deck later, it's got a problem. The deck has a single belt drive, (Vertical) and shaft which goes between two gear boxes for each blade. There are two splined sleeves which the shaft goes into from the gear boxes on each end to the shaft with the pulley.

ONE of these splined sleeves is stripped. My blades lost timing and started to hit each other. I intend to use this mower! Does anyone know where you can get these splined sleeves? The shaft seems to be in good shape, just the sleeve is stripped.

McMaster Carr might have those sleeves. Have to find right size and spline count. If like others I have seen will be a fine spline. I've had Speedex like that and getting the clip off and the sleeve loose to move away from box is the biggest issue on tear-down. I've had to heat them before to get it to slide back and off. You have issues? Grease good on assembly. Never knew Sears ever had that kind of deck?

I would check with each of the site sponsors. It is probable that at least one of them have the sleeves to has access to them.

Those Customs are nice looking tractors. Have fin with it, and good luck with the repairs. It'll be good to see it mowing!

Here are pictures of my Deck off the Sears. Only one of the sleeves is really stripped, and the end of the shaft it was on isn't terrible, (Don't understand how it can be decent, and the sleeve is stripped badly)

The sleeves are of a lesser material than the shafts. It was kind of a break away or a piece that would sacrifice itself.

We're you able to get any from the Site Sponsors?
