These engines always blow and now I have one. Was on the Wheelhorse. Block has two holes in it, and inner damage from parts, Cylinders have chunk out bottom edge. DO have valves, cam and lifters, flywheel, main bearings look good, One piston and rod not too bad, that one has just a little heated area on big end of rod. Standard size piston. Other piston not so good, and rod gone for sure. Carb and intake OK, Crankcase bolts and nuts. Tin was fair, good aircleaner.  Crank doesn't look real scored, but bad rod looks like it heated up on that journal, might be turn able IF you can find new rods. Any interest, just pm me.  Huntington, IN 46750

GL, is that a series 1 or 2 KT17. You can tell from the spec number. If it's higher than 24300 it's a series 2. You can also look for physical differences if the tag is missing, as outlined here. http://gardentractor...-and-2-engines/

Pretty sure Series 1, would have to check # to be sure, BUT, most series ll had big label and none on here anywhere. Didn't really make them much better. Not till they came out with 18hp twin did they have them right. Have starter and air cleaner, exhaust probly only fit a Wheelhorse C 175, but don't know. Couple shots of junk, but nothing real laid out to show.

Do you have the ignition coil off this?

Coil had one wire term broken, and a wire soldered to it, cobbled up. It sold at the swap meet this summer and rest of stuff pretty much thrown away now. Sorry!  not much interest in the parts like I figured. I did use the carb on my K single after changing the throttle and choke shafts, and it worked good!
