Replacing the fuel lines on my JD 318.   , wondering why there are

two extra ports (in and out) on the pump?

Also, do I need to prime it somehow when I first start it, or will it pickup fuel on its own?

Heres a photo, didn't turn out as good as I wanted ,but I think you can see what I'm

asking about......

No idea why the extra ports.  They are blind anyway.  If the pump is good, it'll prime itself, but will take some cranking the engine over.  I always just take the breather top off & crank off spurts of carb cleaner till the gas gets to the carb.  Saves wear on the starter & from draining the battery.
