Friday we found out for sure grandpa has cancer. For the last we have been dealing with doctors and them saying "even though the cancer cell count is rising, doesn't mean you have cancer".

Well now it's too late. It's not early stage cancer any more. It's fast spreading now too.

Right now we're waiting on whether it's spread into the bone yet. The estimate now is 3-4yrs if it hasn't spread to the bones and he refuses treatment. Today he kept busy, but he didn't say much more then he wasn't going to do the treatment.

It's a really tough time for all of us. Especially now knowing that we only have x amount of time, but also not knowing what x amount of time is exactly yet.

Thanks all for reading, I really needed to vent.

Bill, I know exactly how you feel. My heart goes out to your whole family, I hope that you get the best possible timeline.
Just don't squander any of the days you have left, and tell him often how you feel and that you love him. BUT don't let the fear of his dying hinder his living by treating him differently than he would want.
He sounds like a strong man who you look up to, be sure to honor his memory by living well.

You need to vent, you do it. If you need to PM with someone, please do so.

Dad was diagnosed with cancer and they gave him 6 months even with surgery, he chose to go for the surgery and treatment.  That was 8 years ago, he is still free and clear of cancer but I really appreciate every day with him.

I feel for you and my heart goes out to your family,   Make every day count with you r grandfather and respect his decisions.  It is his choice in the end.

Cancer is an insidious monster, one we're getting better at beating, but regardless of the cause, in the end death is the final chapter of life. All we can do is live, love and remember, for all our times are marked.

My prayers to you. None of us know how many days we have. Treat today as a gift from God and make the most of it.

My prayers and thoughts go with you... make many wonderful memories in the time left, but always remember, "...if we have hope in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most miserable..."

Regards,

Smitty

He's taught me all I know on the farm. He's a man definitely set in his ways. His dad lived into his 80's, survived both world wars from both sides. His mom made it almost made it to 100yrs old and ran the farm on her own for awhile. She had 8head of cattle a couple pigs and some chickens. grandpa's going on 73 and he's pretty active. Before this we expected him to keep going for another 15yrs. Hopefully he does.

Thanks every one for taking the time to read this and respond.

Bill, I can't say it any better then Alan did.  I do hope he lives long past what the Doctors predict and continues to have a joyful and productive life.
