So i had to make a run to the Hartford CT area today so like any other good tractor hunter i searched the local Craigslist and snatched this H16 with round back. Surprisingly it runs and moves hydro makes no noise and has been converted to a spin on filter already. The tractor and blower need work but i'm ok with that i was mainly after the round back blower the H16 was kinda a bonus.

A few pics i grabbed between the rain tomorrow im going to power wash it and get it stored away.

Dug out the power washer and cleaned my new prize. It's going to need some work before it will be dependable but i feel this one is worth it. If anyone in my area is interested in the deck let me know i have no use for a 42" deck gonna need paint and rebuild.

Things wrong i noticed

Steering slop needs tie rod ends (2)

Drag link

needs a new pivot pin and bushings

plastic bushing under steering wheel

the rod for the idlers is bent causing them to both ride screwed up.

wrong spring for drive belt tension

needs new belts for the drive and pto

the bushing for the hydro pedal is gone

rear rims rusted from calcium (i have a new set already)

front tires shot (i have 2 new tires)

rear tires (gonna go with 23x8.5-12)

tune up plug,oil,carb rebiuld

seat

paint

Nice!

going to need some TLC but looks salvageable

That is a 42'' Deck, Bolens never had a 48'' for the Tube frames.

Is there any chance you could snap a pic of that and the belt tension spring as i feel there is something fishy with that as well.

I have another question  are these supposed to have a reservoir for the hydro system. Also how do you go about doing a hydro service on these?

Only the early serial numbers of this model had the reservoir tanks on them. I think the big filter took the place of the tank n the later serial number models. The medium Tubeframe service manual should go over servicing the Hydro unit.
