Received the Compression Spring today in the mail.

I need some ideas on how to keep the spring compressed while trying to get it inserted into the hole on the mule drive.

Anyone had the joy of installing the compression spring on the mule drive?

Any tips accepted.

If I do not get any reply on this I will start a new post on the compression spring, Dave.

Here is what my 300/312/314/316K manual has in it on the 41 deck.  This is all that I have to share right now.

Monday 19th.

After receiving the correct stud and fixing the broken compression spring which was a chore all is back to normal with the mule drive.

I received a great tip for installing the compression spring, and if anyone has to change one you will want to remember this tip,

Instert a thin wire through the middle of the spring, it must be a thin wire as you will see why when you are attempting this task, open a vise just wide enough for the stud to go through, compress the spring by hand, having another set of hands would be handy, when the spring is compressed tie or twist the wires ends together. Insert the spring and stud into the mule drive and when all is fastened down cut the wire and you have it.

I would like to thank all who gave me tips and information on this strange problem.

I hope I can be of help to someone down the road. thanks, Dave
