I've done a few searches for a Lauson VX40A engine and came up with nothing. It is on the Bolens Ridemaster mower I bought last weekend and would love to find a manual or a parts list for it. I know it's going to need a carb kit and a governor spring. From the brochure for the Ridemaster it says its a 5 1/2 hp engine.

I've got a parts list, Nate, in my old Lauson manual.

It is a 4 HP motor, 2 1/2 bore.

A lot of parts are still available for it.  Even down to rings.

The carb kit is a Walbro LMG from what I see, is that what you have?

The governor spring mounts around the air vane from what I see.  Part number 27920.  I don't have it, but I can probably lay hands on it.

I'll try to scan that parts list here in the next day or two.  I have not finished scanning that big book yet.  I did my entire Clinton literature collection, that took me almost a year for nearly 1000 pages.  I am working on the Power Products book right now.

Here's what the carb looks like

I don't know for sure if it a Walbro or not.

Was a little surprised when I took the shroud off

Seems the mice made a little house. Now I need to see if I can get some fire out of it.

Thanks Ben

Nate,

I have the real deal if you want to borrow it.  The parts list as well as the "Mechanic's Handbook" dated 1961 are in my big old Tecumseh binder.

I may have the partslist if no one else can come up with one. My 8'' thick Tecumseh book may be hard to ram through the scanner :D

As Ben mentioned almost all parts are available for this engine.

The carb appears to be a clinton ( You can always tell by the little "dimples" around the edge of the carb )

Looks like its the exact one used on the Greenbrier.

Probably will need to pop the flywheel and clean the points.

I might have to look for a different carb because the throttle shaft is wore and has a lot of slop in it.
I should be good on the manuals. Between what Ben and Jeff come up I should find what I'm looking for.

Nato77 I am trying to fine tune my lauson v40 engine. I need to figure out what part numbers I need for the governor spring and exactly how those springs connect and where. Do you have a diagram showing this that you can share? I also have that same carb you took a picture of its a walbro lmg 24.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
