On my 1886-01, I have the 5.7 x 5.0 x (10)??? tires. Can I mount the wider tires on these? or do I need to get another set of wheels? It does not look like if I mounted the "hi-floatation" tires, they would rub the steering components. And why does this tractor have the turning radius of a banana?

There were two "Front Wheel Kits" available for the 1886-01:

18024 - Std. Front Wheel Kit which had the 5.70/5.00 x 8 tires.

18105 - Hi Flotation Front Wheel Kit which came with the 20 - 8 x10 tires.

You can probably mount some tires that are a bit wider, but you will be limited somewhat because of the wheel width.

To go with a hi flotation tire you will need to get the wider wheels.

Another possibility is to get a set of axles/spindles and wheels from one of the HT series tractors which used 18 - 8.50 x 8 tires.  This is what we have done with my 1886-01 with the forklift attachment.  It had the standard wheels/tires, and I wanted three things.  A wider tire  for good flotation as I'll be running it mostly on grass. A tire with a high load capacity, and a taller tire for a bit more ground clearance.
