I believe the correct way Bolens set the hoses at the factory was for, handle goes up attachment goes up. There was a decal that sticks on the dash that shows the proper orientation. I had a pic saved on my computer but cant find it! If anyone has a picture of the hydraulic up down dash decal let me know! Would like to get them reproduced.

How do you think the lever works with a tiller vs. a snowblower..... It would work opposite... :D

Nice looking tractor! Is that a Wheel Horse seat?

The seat came with it I thought it was an original Bolens seat but gee maybe not? I've seen the older tube frames with that small metal seat like on the 1050.

Husky, I have your 853's bigger brother, the 1053. I have pulled a 5x8 trailer with about a ton or more of wood on it and it didn't grunt one bit. I think I still have a pic somewhere here.

That is a killer picture, unbelievable.

Well, that would certainly explain a lot. I need to look at this closer. I think the tiller uses the pin on the bottom of the tool lift plate. I know the deck uses the pin on the top of tool lift plate. Which in theory they should offset each other and still go in the same direction. What you say makes sense though. Right now lever up/deck down. I'm going to put the tiller on and try the same test.

Thanks, that is awesome to  know. I'm glad that I have the original one year seat.
