This has the FC540V-CS00 engine. We need to either rebuild it or find a replacement engine. Does anyone have a clue where to find a rebuild kit for it. It still runs, just smokes and has a slight knock.

Thanks Brian. They have a parts listing for the -CS03, but not sure if that will interchange with the CS00 that is in this mower. And I haven't seen anything for a rebuild kit (piston, rings, gaskets, etc) for it.

Have you looked up a local Kawasaki dealer on the site and gave them a call?

Kenny, Here is a site that has Kaw rebuild kit's.  I didn't see your engine listed but if you contact them, they may be able to help you out. If not with parts they may be able to tell you where you can get a kit.

HERE is where I bought a lot of the Kaw rebuild parts for my 425..

The piston/ring prices are competitive..  Take a gander @ JD's site and you'll be back!

Right now we are looking into whether it may be cheaper to find another engine.

This may be why you can't find the JD #'s:

Please have Kawasaki (NON JOHN DEERE MODELS) Model number Ready, we will not be able to help without this info. John Deere has exclusive rights to the Kawasaki Engines they put in their mowers, so we have no parts lookup capabilities and will not be able to assist you in finding your part.

I know I have taken the part no off a slightly different Model # (Example FC540V-CS0001) and ordered it through our local parts house and it fit just fine.  That being said all these parts have been external.

I have an FD590V-CS00 sitting in the shop that needs the left cylinder rebuilt (sucked a valve) .  I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it but if I do decide to rebuild I will probable order the part for FD590V-CS009.

I am clueless as to what is even close to the engine in there. The FC540V-CS03 may be the same thing for all I know. But, no rebuild kit for it has surfaced.
