Looks like an "SS16".

Might have 18 or 19.9 horse.

You need the model # to be sure.

If it were close and cheap, I'd buy it! Might be a 19.9!

It's a GT18, 1978 maybe! 917.257111 or 112.

Man says this is the original engine, he is the second owner. Here's the engine tag.

I think that is an 18hp engine then. Also to me it looks like that may be a Roper tractor instead of a Sears due to the red paint.

Brian, looks to be a GT18 from around '78
Very capable machine and the second biggest they built that year in the GT line.

Nice that it has part of the three point, be sure to ask if the rest of it is around.

Also, be sure to get a picture of the grill... Odds are its all busted up and irritating to repair and/or expensive to replace.

I agree, with the newer dash it's a 78 or 79 GT. With everything painted red, I wouldn't jumped to say it's a Roper model, grill would tell. Does have the wide front rims too.

I talked with the guy again this morning and he said is used to be a yellowish gold and white before the PO repainted it red. He said it runs great.

Motor was made December of 77, and it's a b48m, which is 18hp, I'd say it's either a replacement motor if the frame was yellow, or it's really a gt18.... If i had a shot of the muffler that's a way to tell... Either way it's either a 77 18/6, or a 78 gt18 from what I see so far

Jon is that a 78 dash? Looks a little different than my 77 16/6.

Isn't the decals different from 77 when they changed to 78? Cause that one has the red background like a 76-77...

I know my SS18 is a BG engine.  I think it's a 76... the model number is the same as a 76, except it has an extra 1 at the end if memory serves.  It appears to have always been yellow/white.
