Starting a new posting on the new Speedex and will fill in as I do things. Today changed the seat mount, found more of it broke, have to fix later. Changed one tire/wheel over from my parts 1040, was just like it, better bushings and same tire pattern. These or orig I'm sure. Will be changing the other over too, is in better shape on bushings. Glad they were exact same size and such. Gonna be tearing down my parts 1040 and some items might be needed for my Good 1040 builder and this one. Might be looking for a big briggs or Kohler for the 1640 if anyone has something close. Won't ship or travel too far for one. More complete the better!

So, you determined it is a 1630? I never could figure out what I had.

I didn't realise how big of a tractor this was until I pulled it up to the house. It was a good thing it did not have a motor, took about all I had to get the lift up. It almost drawfs my Sears.....

Tahoe, Not exact on model yet, but looks very close to info I have. Have sent pix out to couple Spdx Guru's to see. Found belt cover and chain case and the right deck hanger with pulleys from another guy. Not real sure on deck going on, but what the heck! I have a rough shape MTD 990 that is running with 16 Briggs setting just inside door on some pix here. Was thinking that engine could go into it, but not sure I want to break up the MTD.  I just got some 3pt parts for it and had a plan for foot control, just can't seem to make up mind to sell, fix, or break-up. SO, for now, just gonna look around for another engine. Swap meet next month at Portland, should be able to find something would think.

Found that big Briggs at swapp.  No spark yet. Has starter/gen too. Series 24, think 14 hp then? not sure yet. Saw a tractor just like mine at show. WAS an S-24 and think mine is that now. Chain case was heavy metal and little longer than the later stamped ones I think??  I'm going to try to slide my trans back 1" and take links out of chain. This will fit it to my new cover. Think belt length might be only issue then, but may not be any at all, not sure on that yet. Will be needing a two sheave pulley off Speedex's for this engine if one is around?? Bought some 222 Case fenders, a little smaller than the 440 fenders I was thinking of using, but haven't decided on which ones yet. Either way I will wreck them for Case use if it doesn't work on here.

Well, messed some today with this rig. Bolted engine in to see if fits and operates on belt clutch. Seems good there, but have to make change to the adjustment it had to make brake come on later. More to fix later. Finally got steering wheel off with puller and still had to add heat! Good thing all this is metal. Mounted a lower gen bracket on engine now, to drop down so I can put gas tank up higher on it. Looks like it is going to work. The high mount was NOT going to fit the metals on tractor, but will fit in clearance holes now. Need new belt tho, shorter.  Was wiggling the pulley on the trans and it wobbles pretty bad. SO, guess will be tearing it down and putting the double bearings in front of it. It is T92 like PK's used but turned sideways in Speedex's.

Well, Tahoe and others.....was looking thru some old postings and found this one. I SOLD this tractor with engine in it, not hooked up yet at Portland this summer. Decided I needed to reduce projects with getting out and all, and this is the chosen one. Sold it first day before even off the truck.  Now trying to decide if I need the other too 1622's or should try to sell them also?  I finished the one and now these are extras. Tore down the Plastic Eagle and put in attic, out of side for now. If you can't Get Out, least you can Hide the darn things, heh!

Got to do what ya got to do. I would have liked to have kept that one, but to many other projects. Thinking about selling my other one if I can get my daughter to go along with the idea since I told her it could be hers and we would paint it her color :wallbanging:

It will be forever until I ever get to it and it's in my way.
