If your trying to be 100% timer period correct then this deck would have not been sold with that 853

They would have been sold with the new style Red decks that used the lift style pictured below:

That's interesting looking at the deck lift set up in the two pictures posted in this thread. I have a 1971 853 and it has the newer style deck lift.

Well that is interesting. I know their ad's were rather unique. My ad shows the 853 with a brown grille and white 853 letters instead of green which I have never seen. My 1556 ad's also show a brown grill. So that deck appears to be a bit different than the green one I have and yet different than the decks that are on my 1556's. I may just go with the green one, paint it red and call it a day. Thank you for all your replies on this.

Here is a picture of a 853 like the one in the ad.

Wow and to top it off that picture has the brown grille with the red 853 numbered decal . I have yet to see a tube frame with the brown grille, very interesting stuff.

That 853 is the only one that I have ever seen with the brown grille. It seems like there are more 1970 853's than there are 1971 853's and overall the 853 isn't very common. If you want I can add a few more pictures of my 853.

Sure, I'd love to see a few more pics of it. My 1886-01 is a 1971 and it has the brown grille. I have three 1556's and they all have the tan grille. There must have been a cutoff time from when they used brown vs tan grilles.

Here are a few more pictures of it. This are a year and a half old now though, I'll need to get some newer ones. If you're interested it's looking for a new home lol.

The brown grilles only lasted 1971-1972

Funny because all 4 of my 1556's have the tan grille and they are in that date range. Maybe certain models did not use brown? I think some of the colored ads used the same picture for different tractors but who knows.
