Don't know if any of you mow airstrips but be careful if you do.

Small plane collides with man on lawn mower in Taylorsville

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. —

The National Transportation and Safety Board was contacted after a plane hit a man on his lawn mower at the Taylorsville Airport, according to police.

The accident happened on the airport's grass landing strip.

The pilot told Channel 9 Eyewitness reporter Alexa Ashwell he was attempting to land and didn't see the man on the lawn mower until it was too late.

Alexander Emergency Services Director Russell Greene said the victim's hand was severed in the accident.

He was taken by medical helicopter to North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

The investigation is ongoing.

It actually looks like he directly hit the mower with the prop/ fuselage rather than a wing! The mower guy is lucky to be alive!

Not trying to hijack the thread and I don't want to tick anyone off--But a farmer friend of mine once told me that JDs are painted green so they can hide in the tall grass when they see a Case coming.----------Please no hate mail---only a joke-------And yes I also like JDs.Never met a tractor I didn't like.

Another reason citizens should be disarmed of their airplanes. If your not in the military, you don't need one.

Planes don't hit garden tractors, plane operators do.
