Play time isn't what it use to be! At that age, I would have been out playing - driving the garden tractor around or riding bikes.

What would be different it this picture were from my childhood:  no bikes, BB or cap guns, no blue jeans, no screen door or wooden steps, no cedar siding or mother standing at the door telling us to be home by lunch, too many boys there 'cause us country kids lived too far apart for that big a crowd to gather unless it was a very special occasion.  Thongs, yes thongs, were only worn on your feet if you went to the town swimming pool, we preferred the creek and bare feet.  Hair too long or too short, either a bur or flattop or trying to look Hippie but not quite there because the folks wouldn't allow it.

That is sad too.

I was a kid in the 80s.  I never had a video game system till I was an adult.  I had a minibikes and go karts.  We lived in the country, might of been two or 3 kids close enough for us to play together.  Swimming in the creek.  Better be home for lunch and home before the street light in front of Dad's house came on.

a good observation on this picture if the kid with the most expensive device is also the fattest.

Am I the only one who awhile growing up if you wore shorts you got beat up?  We wore jeans all summer.  If you were those gym shorts they were likely to spend more time at your ankles as everyone would be "pantsing" you all day long.

I am so glad my daughter has no interest in those stupid games, she gets terribly upset when the tractor wont start or there is to much snow to ride them around.  I have her out every day doing thing's outside with her hands, and no she never has video game's.  When she ask's I tell her she can have them when she can afford them on her own in her own apartment.

Yes, and probably a lot of it from GTTalk members. Something to get us through those long winter months without gardening.
