Figured I would post a few pictures of the HD-12 that was auctioned in PA yesterday. I had hoped to purchase it for several reasons- one is it would have been something to feature on my site- two I wanted to be able to get the dimensions off the Haban sickle mower so those who wanted to could build a frame to attach any Haban sickle mower to their Bush Hog- finally -it just looks cool and would be a show stopper at a tractor show. Unfortunately for me, someone wanted it more than me. Whoever bought it got a nice original HD-12 with a package of hard to get options. Congratulations! Just wish it had been me!

I would kill for the correct Bush Hog Haban mower - if you have or know of one to sell please contact me.

The tractor was a one owner. I checked the Haban sickle mower and it is the correct one and yes they sold them on the tractor with orange paint. The bonus in the deal were the T-42A trail mower and the snow plow.

That was my first thought, that you talked to the new owner and could get some measurements.

Sure hated to see it go to someone besides you Scott, but if one of our "flock" snagged it, then at least we'd get more pics & info on it.  There are others, but as you know way too well, the sickle mower is special.

Too bad it got away. Do you know how much it ended up selling for?

I figured the break down by piece this way- now it's my opinion and values very greatly from area to area. If I had not been bidding and wanting it, this set would probably sold for $1600-1800. When you get two buyers and both want it, the price usually goes higher than its true value. I went $275 over what I had decided before the auction was my top price I would pay.

Tractor HW optioned w/rear pto option- $700-800
Sickle mower $450-500
T-42A deck $400-500
Snow plow $100

Range $1650 to $1900

Usually in a package deal, you would be able to buy it less than the piece by piece deal. Owner gets to sell it all at one time is its a convenience factor. In my mind the prices listed above are top prices with nice original tractor and everything in good working shape. If any of this had been left outside and was rusty etc the prices could be much lower.

I cant seem to get that number into my head :wallbanging:    $2500 for a garden tractor at an auction! :(  I just cannot come to grips with it.  I can get a full size tractor in running and working cond around here for that money.  But I guess if you want it and have the cash all the power to you.

It is unfortunate that you did not get it but in my experience it usually works out for the best, maybe by the end of the week you will get a call about another one.

I think part of the reason why this tractor went for such a high price is because of how nice it is and also Bush Hogs are very hard to find on the western side of PA. I have only seen three for sale in the past 5 years in this area.

I would have been out at round 3 or earlier in the bidding. I love the look, and the package... but I would get served with papers when she found out.
