Today he has take a turn for the worse. Awhile his pancreatic problem is more under control he had gotten pneumonia. One lung is very poor with a large amount of fluid. The other is working at half capacity. He is having a very difficult time breathing. They are going to do a lung cath to drain the fluid.

I have never heard of this but my wife said this is what they are doing and she is a nurse. Maybe she said it that way so I would understand.

If his lung function doesn't improve they are going to have to put him back on the ventilator.

Even if they successfully stop the pneumonia he is looking at least spending 3 more full weeks in the hospital

He is still in ICU. Fluid still building up in his lungs. He is getting in bad shape. My mother in law was concerned before now she is scared. He is growing much weaker by the day and there has been no improvement. Today they did a procedure where they make a small incision in your back put a needle through puncture the outer layer of the lung and take a sample of the fluid.

This will help them further narrow down the cause.

His blood levels are showing his pancreatic function improving but his blood oxygen level is very very low and without a c pac machine and a large amount of o2 he would not be alive. They had him on the vent shortly but are afraid to leave him on it very long.

Sorry to hear he is not improving.

With all that fluid, his O2 levels are probably low as he can't get the oxygen in his body. My dad was on O2 for over 2 yrs with a lung disease, pretty rough with lung issues.

They moved him out of ICU and hoping the fluid in his lungs doesn't build back up.

Thanks for the prayers. We are hoping he is home in time for his youngest daughters birthday party at the end of month!
