Good morning.I hope this is the place to post this.My problem is at my age, using a computer is like learning to drive a model A for the first time.So here goes. I have a turf trak 18hp hydro tractor. I would like to find the tractor serial #. Will this tell me the model of the tractor or is that somewhere else? i think i can remember it being a hydrostatic drive because i can't find a clutch.Do i need to change the hydro fluid and filter? If so,where would these be? And where can i get the filter and oil. Sorry for all the questions.I spent all day on my 75th B.day learning how to turn on this thing.NOW,if i can find this site and get your answers without calling my 9yr old grand son i will be doing good Thank you for all your help.Richard

Welcome Richard! What brand is the tractor? I couldn't find a name.

If it's a John Deere, you can find fluid capacities here https://jdparts.deer...rfEquipment.pdf

Welcome to GTT. There are a bunch of us that struggle with computors so, you are not alone. We like questions so keep them coming. I think you have an MTD series 900 machine. Can you post a picture? You can go to our Galleries Section, click on the tab and look at pictures of tractors to help identify it. Do you know the age of the tractor? The better the identification he more we can help. Good Luck, Rick

Richard, Welcome to GTtalk. If it is a MTD 990 type machine, look under the dash and see if you see an ID tag just under the steering wheel.

Welcome to the forum. Given time, I'm sure we can figure out what tractor you have and also help you get comfortable with posting here.

Welcome!  Hope we can help ya out!

I did a quick google and it shows a few different types of Turf Trac models, but all appear to be made by MTD. The only 18Hp I saw was a newer style front end, like the mid 80's MTD's/Murrays, but it looks heavy. From what I read, most were sold through

CO-OP or Landmark in Canada.

Wel I found the reply spot so I'm doing good. Thank you for the warm welcome and words. I feel a lot better about this. I will try to find the serial #. The tractor says--turf trac--on the side. I will take some pics on Thursday. If someone can explain how to post from a Mac book pro. Its a laptop,if that makes a difference. The tractor is a 18hp. thanks Rick

If it makes you feel any better I have had to ask my 8 year old daughter for help with my laptop on a few occasions.  Welcome to the forum, these guys are all great and I am sure they will get you straightened out in no time.

Cubby not sure either on what you got. If it is an MTD 990 I have a Turf Trac also. The Turf Trac is like many other badges used on the MTD 990 with the exception of the serial numbers. For some unknown reason they are almost impossible to research for dates. The numbers are in the same location but different series of numbers. With much help on here I was able to find my info by using the numbers on the engine. Every MTD 990 TT  I have seen have a 16HP Briggs & stratton engine. Here is my link of my project.
