I bought this on Sunday, almost against my better judgement.
image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg
It was advertised as a 12" with 2 mediocre pictures just good enough to see that it wasn't.
I called the guy, explained that his asking price would have been fair for a 12", but for a 10", he was high. I offered him what I thought it was worth and he laughed. Said his price or nothing, he knows what these sell for new. A little back and forth and he came down 10, but that's it. Ok, crap I'll do it.

When I got there, the moldboard was rustier than the pics showed. The "mud" on the back of the moldboard was actually cement splatter. The welded on pieces looked worse too. Guy is a master photographer or I shouldn't craigslist when tired.

I went ahead and bought it, it would've been a waste of gas if I hadn't.

Ended up cleaning up ok, looks like a plow again at least.

I can clean up the coulter and try it out soon I hope. Then I'll see if there is anything not visible that is wrong.

You should be able to fix up those welds a bit, and spit and polish it

back to life.

Just curious, but how many plows do you have. (respond in code if

you feel it's necessary.) :smilewink:

You know you shouldn't have bought it. You just encourage him to behave badly.

Master photography Alan, trust me. My last Craigslist purchase I was standing in similar shoes. It was still a little high, he still wouldn't come down any more, but I was a hour from home, so we shook hands and I headed home with it.

PS: If you spent 10 percent of what I did, you didn't do too badly on it, even if you should have walked away. Lol

I had the same thing happen to me , there was a DB 6" plow on CL in the town my brother works ( 2 hours away from me ) for $20 . I asked to  pick it up for me . I thought I could use the beam for the 8" plow that had the bent one . A few weeks later when we got together I saw the front mount on the beam was  reworked for some other kind of tractor :(
