I found this tractor on craigslist. Doesn't run. Missing the carb. No attachments. Turns over. Im considering it. He would do $200. Worth it? Don't see many of these come up around here. What kind of ignition system would this have?

I might be wrong but, I think maybe that is a Monarch or "plain" Standard instead of a Walsh. It doesn't strike me as a bargain at all but I would buy it for that if I could afford it. I paid a LOT more than that for the one I have and its on cut offs and missing the battery box. It was also smashed in shipping but thats a different conversation

I know that picture.  I have seen it somewhere on the net during some search I did this winter.  Can't remember the search words.  It is part of a larger collection.  May have been an auction site.  Makes me kinda skeptical.

That is a monarch and with that style shroud should probably have the flywheel mag. Late 30s/ early 40s era. Those coils were notorious for being junk. If it has spark, the right carb and the air cleaner, its a good deal. If the carb and aircleaner and the original core of the coil there its probably about right. the problem was that when the coil quit people threw them out and used the points with a car coil and battery. Without the steel laminations, its hard to find the parts to fix it.
