Brought home a couple of Planet Jr's recently. Got the small one running the other day and this was the result,

The other one is one of the larger ones with a Toro engine. Has fantastic compression and a cracked flywheel :wallbanging:

Oh well, there are days like that

That would be fantastic! I will have to go out and look at it tomorrow to see what I can find out, it has a Eisman(sp?) ignition where you adjust the points through a cutout in the flywheel. Its the first one of these engines I've ever seen in person.

I uploaded a Toro engine manual here.  http://gardentractor...-engine-manual/  This is the one for the engine with the cast shrould. May cover some others too.

Thanks very much for the manual! The only thing left on the tag that I can read is the serial #04494 but, from the info in the manual I gather that the engine is either a MF or a MH. It has the Eissmann type 71F mag.

Is there any way to pin a exact date on that engine?

Glad you found the manual useful. I've never seen or heard any way to date the engines.

With some very generous help from

Columbia236

and the Manual from Doug T I got the bigger Planet Jr. running now. Still a lot to be done to it but, it should be a real nice 2 wheeler when its done. Seems it will be a real horse too, not quite as strong as a Handiman or Standard Twin but not far behind.

I finally got the big one put back together and on new tires. One of my sons came down to test drive it, he was very impressed.

He is trying to talk me into selling it to him now
