So back to the original question... I would assume the 'A' doesnt seem to indicate any specific oil pan but instead indicates that the engine was going to be used in an application where a special oil pan was going to be needed.

That's the same spec on my closed side. Engine serial is 7520082.

Thanks Rock Farmer, that what I need. I at least now I know my flywheel cover is correct.  Some oil pans hold more oil than others. The pullers guys here look for the engines with the oil pan that hold more oil, so they can build them for pulling tractors. Noel
