I got mine for 250.00

had the same problems too.

If his price came down 5 or 6 hundred, I'd do it for the parts.

Two differentials would let me build a 4x4

Did you know that Bolens sold that mower as the Frame Steer series from 1981-1993?

Passed on one of those last year.  Had never seen one before, a neat little machine.  I don't recall what was being ask, but I think somewhere around $500.

his ad said the deck is timed?

I would be curious on how that works, there are a bunch of Massey timed decks that are useless cause of the timed/cogged belted decks. Maybe a conversion if parts for that are available?

The decks used a cog belt, and parts are very hard to find. .The Stiga/Noma park models are built in Sweden.

The Bolens Estate keepers were very  similar but not identical

My deck was very rusty, and 2 spindles were seized, so I scrapped it.

I mounted a modified  48" MTD belly mount deck on the front of it and swapped out the Techy 11hp for a B&S 15.5 that was much newer and had a working starter.

The Techemseh still ran OK, but the starter was seized up.

I find them very agile, but they do take some getting used to  especially in higher gears.
