Working on the 1050, needed a tank big enough for the hood. Thought about cutting the top off of a 50 gallon plastic barrel, but it was not wide enough. Home Depot did not have a big enough rubber made container. This is what I came home with. It is a very large garbage bin on wheels. Using rebar as my anode connected with 16ga wire. The battery charger was one of the new automatic types so I put a dead battery in the circuit. Bubbles.2014-04-07 15.41.01.jpg 2014-04-07 15.41.25.jpg 2014-04-07 15.41.43.jpg

Looks like a pretty nice solution to the problem.  Let us know how it works out.

That's a nice setup, let us know how well it neutralizes the rust. Have any before pictures? That saves a lot of the metal that blasting, sanding and grinding eat away, for sure.

I will post before and after pix tomorrow when it finishes.

The one thing I have noticed is that the cheap little HF battery charger gets pretty warm.

Thanks for the Don Ho, but my usual mental state really calls more for Dean Martin.

Ok, before and after. After it came out of the tank I spent a couple of hours with a steel brush to remove the paint and as much of the rust as possible:2014-03-30 17.04.41.jpg 2014-04-08 14.27.19.jpg 2014-04-08 14.27.35.jpg 2014-04-08 14.28.05.jpg 2014-04-08 14.27.01.jpg

Pretty much magic.

I don't know what kind of adhesive Bolens used on the decals but it is very durable. Maybe the same stuff they used to glue thermal tiles onto the space shuttle.
