Well, while repairing the governor gear on my 442, I found the urethane spider was in pieces. The coupler halves had a little metal to metal contact but is not real damage. It just shined it up a bit. I was wondering on a source for one. It calls for a L099 spider. I've read a few things online about the replacement one is a L099/L100 and is thicker. I would rather just find a stock replacement. Any ideas?

Eric

Will's the man!!

Any good industrial supply store that carries belts, hoses, bearings and the like (like Motion or Applied as has been suggested) should be able to help, too.

I will look into. Never heard of a motion industries but will do a little more searching. Thanks for the help! I've looked at
Surpluscenter.com and they only had the L099/L100 replacements which I've read is too thick. Hopefully one of those 2 leads you all gave will help. Thanks again!

Tractor Supply carries one, not love joy but identical. Check around, should be a fairly common part.

If the spider is open center can you slide in a little on both shafts to make up difference in thickness. Thats a replacement from love joy so if that wont work for you put it on belt sander and thin it down keeping it as flat as possible.

PM me your address and I'll drop a good used one in the mail for you.  It is a Lovejoy brand L-099 L-100 and was removed from a working 1985 448.  If it's too thick (which I don't believe it will be) you can modify it and not possibly ruin something you paid good money for.  It is in very good shape.  Will keep an eye out for a tiller in the area for you.  Not looking myself, already have one.
