Like the title says I'm in need of a fuel tank for a Cub 123.  This tractor was mine, I recently sold it to a good friend of mine who's giving it some much needed attention (in my shop still :D )  He tracked down a tank locally that looked great but turned out to have pin holes rusted through from the inside.  Long story short I feel bad for his luck, this being his first tractor and all so I'm trying to see if I can find him another one...

It doesn't need to "belong" to a 123 as long as it'll fit and doesn't need to be perfect although leak free would be nice :D ; other parts on the tractor aren't original either and it's so rough it really should've been a parts machine but it will live again.  We succeeded in getting it running and moving so we're heading in the right direction.  He's a paint and body guy so he's got the skills to get it looking like new.

Thanks for any and all help guys.

Walkinman1,

I'm sure you know that they were soldered together at the factory with soft solder ( like we used to use on copper pipes ) . It could be disassembled, repaired and reassembled . A steel patch could be soldered on over the rusted though area . Just some thoughts that may or may not help .

123 tanks are usually auctioned on Ebay . Ray Weaver sells them (717)587-3727 or rmweaver5@deJazzed.com . He has barns full of Cubs !

I don't have one,but you should be able to locate one fairly easily. They aren't specific to the 123. One will fit from the 122 all the way to the 169. As long as it's a 12 horse or bigger.

Thanks guys, he's afraid of eBay for one (doesn't want a repeat of the current issue) but disassembling and fixing may be a viable option.

Here's pics of my 124 tank . It's a three-piece tank with the cap mounted in the center section . Hope this helps .
