Needed another mower to mow around a couple of buildings, barn and down the side of a long driveway. So I picked this mower up. Runs and doesn't smoke. Needs a cable to engage the deck. I tried to hook it back up but its froze. I've been searching trying to find a new one but have not luck. Choke cable is broke.

The older ones had a lever, is it still there, just cable actuated?

Nice solid Sears. You should be able to round up the parts you need from a forum member or from our site sponsors.

Still has the lever. Here are some pictures. You can see the top of the lever in the second picture.

I have a 1972 Custom 10E, I can check tomorrow in the daylight to see if that cable is still good. If its good you can have it.  Let me know if you want it before I go out to the back 40 to look.

I'm not in a big hurry right now. Haven't had time to work on it. Still need to see if there is anything else I need.

I too am the proud owner of a sears 10 XL

This is my 1st sears in my collection of 25 tractors.. I have to say, I have never had an easier starting tractor then this one!  This was a one owner tractor with paperwork. Very sweet lil tractor for sure.IMG_0001_82.jpg IMG_0001_83.jpg IMG_0001_84.jpg IMG_0001_89.jpg
