I've been married for 17 years  now.   When we go on a trip or mini vacation she always asks me before we go ,  Are we picking up any parts on this trip.  We both laugh,  she likes to sew and I go to the shop.   She knows I have a addiction, but at least its legal, and for the most part harmless.

Mine likes to "help" out when she can. She likes driving the finished product. Guess I'm lucky by the sound of it.

I sometimes wonder if it isn't some kind of an artistic interest we have with the older machines. I think most of them are beautiful and interesting. Most of the machines were styled for good looks. They were the works of art of designers years ago. There is beauty in simplicity and function. The research is a form of archeology that preserves the environment of the particular machine. I guess we are a type of art historian. Tell her that. Good Luck, Rick

These are good answers everyone. My wife is enjoying this as much as I do. She has been excited about all four that I have. Sometimes she gives me that female look when she sees the bank statement of parts from places she never heard of. You can also tell her it's a clean hobby & it keeps you home.

I can definitely relate!!! I was looking back over some of my records yesterday...over the past 9 months, I have driven a total of 5,553 miles scavenging these old tractors, parts, and implements!  It's definitely addicting...and not getting any better.

My wife isn't crazy about my tractors but a couple of snow storms back, she didn't have to lift a shovel once.  She sure like them then.

I don't show mine and looks are secondary to function for me, I like the old ones because they work better, wives and tractors! :smilewink:

Just tell her there are worst things you could be spending money on like silding it across the bar and coming home broke.Plus she will know where you spend your free time ----In the work shop. Also think of it as an investment, prices will only go up on old iron.

I get tractors that are about the same color, then she doesn't know I got another one, but when I got the John Deere and I was in the field cutting grass and could not get to the woods in time to hide, then she knows. Noel

It's WAY better than flushing money down the drain at a casino!
