Wish you were closer.  I'm looking to buy a plow for my 1855A.  Wonder what shipping would be to 58251.  Any chance someone near you, or you, coming towards eastern ND?

I *think* there is one in Grand Forks, ND.

I would be interested in the 10" one.

Just looked, there is one in Grand Forks.  Let me know if that guy does not buy the 10" one, maybe we can work something out.

Best to e-mail me, I don't check forums regularly.

Question, an 18 horse Snapper 1855 can pull this with no problems?  My soil is mixed clay/sand with some black dirt thrown in... LOL.

John

Your 1855 should pull that with ease.  You might want fluid fill the tires and/or add wheel weights for extra traction.

I've been told that you use 1 Hp./in. for calculating how much HP you need for plowing.

According to some research published at NCSU  http://open-furrow.s...nd Traction.pdf   full sized tractors use about 8 hp per foot.  The power required depends on speed, width, and depth of the plow from reading the material.  They list a typical depth as 7 inches for their calculations, our 10 and 12 inch plows should be running at 5-6 inches.  So an 1855 should have no problem pulling a 10 inch plow.

Howard, many of us have 12" wide tires, and pull 10" plows with no issues at all.  Of course having the widths match would be best.

Your 1855 will handle the 10" o.k. It'll also handle a 12".
