I found a great site dedicated to Lauson engines.  Lauson Engine Site

Lots of photos of restored engines, restoration articles, decals, and manuals.

The SLV-51WW4.  I needed torque values for the head and flywheel fasteners.  I found all of that in the overhaul manual on the site I listed above.  There was a huge, deluxe mouse nest under the cooling shroud.  I now have spark, just need to replace the throttle cable, then ready to see if it will run.

Cool, would like to see the old girl if you could.

Talk to me about the carbs on these Lausons, is it a Tilly or Carter.

Bendix mag or later Wico.

I think it is a Wico mag and I thought for sure it has a Walbro carb, but I will double check that.  The other Lauson (one pictured above) is a model V25H-3-321P.  That is the NOS tiller.

The Power Products tiller with the two-stroke looks like it has a tillotson.  The float chamber is beside the carb inlet.  I can get you close up photos if you like.

Many were switching to Wico and LMB/Carter carbs but the

SLV-51WW4 looks like it still retained the old MT Tilly, has the wonderful Schnacke recoil.

V25H-3-321P look to be the later Techumseh/Lauson engine and looks to have the LMB carb and early version of the Techumseh recoil starter.

These two engines are the only ones I have seen.  I am sure the fellow with the Lauson site that I listed above would be able to help you out.  He has quite a collection.

I just checked the brochure on the SLV engine and mine does have the Wico ignition (I remember the configuration of the cover) and Walbro LMG-18 carburetor.  The V25 brochure lists the carb as Walbro LMG-20 and either Wico or F-M ignition.  I have not looked at that engine yet.
