I am restoring a jd 400 that has a tiller attachment. I am missing the slimed end of drive shaft for tiller. It is the same shaft that is required for the mower deck. Meaning the end that attaches to the tractor. I have checked to see it that it Fits the tiller. My jd dealer can get one for a small fortune. I can buy a complete shaft on eBay that fits a jd 425. Does any one know if the spline on my 400 pto shaft is the same as the 425?

1. of all: welcome to GTT - when I'm at home, I'll look for docs. Maybe one of the guys here can answer your question immedeatly.

after the wrong answer first, now a new edit:

400, the partnumber is #3

the drive shaft of the 425 looks different (and I didn't find the partnumber), so I think it doesn't fit

more infos for the 400 - PC1475 and for the 425 - PC2351

Are you looking for the square "male" spline attachment for the pto shaft from the axle out put to the bottom of the gearbox?   I did a modification to mine and have the original in my garage if you might need one.

Heres a video of what I did.

before issue.

After fix

Let me know if this might help or if I can help with anything else.
