Did john deere make a weight that set on top of the engine? Its bolted down it looks like to the head. What might it be worth?

Yes, it was used on some models with Tecumseh engines.  Which models (Other than the JD112)  & worth I have no idea.

The HH100 was only used in the Deere 112's and if my memory is correct the weight was originally for the flat fender tractors which began in 1968.

Did the tecky have so much compression and power that it needed additional weight to hold the head on?

Two theories: vibration dampener &/or help stop blown head gaskets.  Personally, I would come nearer believing the vibration dampener!  ~~  Lowell

As I understood from people "in the know", it was only for vibe dampening.

As you know already they did make one.As for value I have bought then anywere from $25.00 to $75.00 and seen them sell for more than $100.00

but just never know what the next one will bring ,high or low

So was it only an option then?  What was the reasoning behind putting it on the engine head?
