I think that info is in the Kohler K series service manual. I believe there is a copy in our manuals section and it is also available from Kohlers web site.

you can find it here - the old TECUMSEH engine are more user-friendly...

I have had no luck on Kohlers website.

This engine is older then 1965 and does not use the letter system discribed in the manual to determin year of manufacture.

Well, you have a good service manual for it!

I think these were only made one or two years. I thought the date was on the manual, I found that manual on the internet in less than 30 seconds of searching, I don't think it will take that much more time to find the DOM

EDIT: 1964 and 1965 is what I find, about a minute of searching.

I'm not sure why the animosity towards the question Okie. It was a simple query that could've been answered without the 'tude.
Unless there is something deeper that made you respond that way, maybe an explaination is in order.

Maybe I've spent too much time googling but I still can't come up with bonafide Kohler info on the dates.  I've seen reference to this engine being built back into the 50s. How do you actually date these?

It seems that dateing a pre 1965 Kohler can be difficult.

My early searches made me believe the same thing.

I believe the 1-2 year rumor came due to the fact that Economy Tractor Co only used it for two years being 64-65. This engine was more popular in other applications such as generators.

My Red-E tractor catalog from 58-59 list the Kohler 12hp as an option.

Kohler made a K330 which tells me they made a 12hp engine prior to 1959.

I guess kohler forgot about that, they specifically say introduced the 7 hp in 1959, but like you said Red-E says different, hmm

Trying to date a pre-1965 Kohler is difficult.
