I came across a pretty neat document the other day.

It seems that back in 1952 a Bolens dealer had an imagination and different marketing idea. I'm sure he or his kids had seen Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer ( haven't looked it up but I think it came out in the 50's or earlier) which got him thinking. Why not hook some tractors together and make a float for the Christmas parade.

I've thought about hooking 2 together but 5! Not that they're all driving the rig but still. Then to send the idea to Bolens headquarters and having them like the idea that they send it out to other dealers to replicate. I just wonder how many actually did it.

The only problem I'm seeing with this is I don't have enough 12BB's to do it. I'm thinking its going to take a little bit of time and money to get this put together but I think it would cool to do. Guess I have to find a few more Power Ho's.

Another thing does anyone have any other bulletins from Bolens with a water mark or something like it in the paper? I haven't seen some thing like it before.

Very neat!

Can you get a scan of this so we can read the whole article?

Your going to also need the Bolens cart to make  the slay as well :D

Most older paper had the paper manufactures water mark in it. Its nothing related to Bolens.

I have three and a sulky, so I have a good running start on the sleigh and "reindeer". Please do scan those documents for us.

Had a little time this morning to get them scanned, so here they are... Attached File  Randolph the Red Nose Bolens.pdf   772.7KB   37 downloads

All the other documents I have from Bolens didn't have any water marks in them so that's why I was wondering.

It would be nice to but a job change and the lovely cold we've been having aren't letting me have much time for playing around. Maybe I'll try and get something together but nothing will be all painted up or running. The thing is I need 10 tires for the tractors and at about $60 a piece cost goes up pretty fast. Not to mention finding parts to get a few of the engines running on the tractors and the all the paint!! Jeez what did I get myself into!

I have enough to do it but they don't look so pretty. Maybe I'll have to slap some 2x4s together and set it up for a pic or two.
