Just putting this out there to see & to start a conversation!!!

whats the farthest you guys have ever driven your garden tractor ? how many miles & for what purpose it was for ?

many years ago i had an old ford i drove down the mtn to our community country store (closed now) my intentions were to just to pick up some gas & maybe a bologna sandwich about 15 min in the trip i realized it was going to be a long one but figured id gone to far to turn back ! To make a long story short upon getting there i was nervous as a cat, the last 45 min or so worrying about the tank running dry or some unforeseen breakdown! I stepped off my tractor spent a few min stretching & filling my tank & lil gas jug, paid & went out & sit on a table they had under an old beech tree eating my sandwich & listening to my motor cool ! while a feeling of pride & accomplishment slowly replaced the nerves & stiffness (maybe it was the sandwich) After about an hr i was feeling pretty sure of myself & my trusty ole tractor i even went in & bought a pop for the road lol! LSs i proceeded home up the hill & never looked back ! with a feeling that my ole tractor could do anything if i just take care of it ! I guess that's the feeling i get today when i accomplish something & what keeps me interested in the whole garden tractor seen! Anyway enuff nostalgia i figured this would interest some of you guys & maybe get some of your stories as well ! Thanx for listening !

There's a thread on here somewhere about this. I think my furthest was around 1,000 mile round trip. I have driven literally a few thousand miles total for the critters!

I have driven my other Massey 1655 ( the one that I sold )in a parade, which was probably about 3 miles as it circled the town and went as far as the seniors home.

I cannot compare with 1000 mi, but I have been up to a small store about 6 mi away, but had to be very wary of traffic, lot of big suvs pulling boats and campers. They are simply not ready for a 15 mph GT on the county road. If I have to do it very much, I will oversize the back wheels for 20 to 25 mph. Might look weird, but I look weird so it don't matter.

Regards, George

I won't even drive my garden tractor to the local restaurant.... 3 doors down... or the convenience store the other direction 5 doors down... There is just no reason to drive a GT 7 or 8 MPH on a 25 MPH stretch of road through a small town when 90% of traffic goes 40 MPH. Don't think I haven't considered it though, just not the right situation yet.

Casey, maybe you need one of them "supped up" lawn mowers like was on another thread a while back, supposed to run 80 kph.

Last I need is MORE speed on a garden tractor, at least that much more anyway lol. I'm dangerous enough under 10 MPH lol.
