Passing with the plow down is tough skill to master.

The guy in front was pulling a 12" plow and walking right on with it! In the video at the first of the tread I was trying high range to see how it would plow, 430 said NO WAY!! Low range it did great. Some day I would like to own a 12" plow.

Mounted my deck so the JD will only get mowing duty for quite some time now.

Sounds a little like someone is backing out...

Working on readying the NOS diff & hydro for the JB. Got the Massey 1655 hubs modded & mounted on the JB diff axles. Gotta cut a new hydro to diff gasket, then mount together. Need to pick up a new hydro filter. Then it'll be time for the swap. Sometime this coming week, the JB should be strong again!

Between milkings and getting calf & momma in, I got the NOS hydro mounted to the NOS differential & the hubs mounted on axles. With a little luck, it all might be under the JB tomorrow for testing. I'll have to use the old hydro filter if I do, unless I have something that will fit it. I have a couple new hydraulic filters that one may fit till I can get a correct one.

The diesel JB pulls strong again! Got the hydro/diff swap finished. Lots stronger now, and power steering now works fine. When the hydro started getting weak, the cooler up front wasn't even warm, but the hydro was HOT, so the charge pump had failed. I've just been driving it around today with no hard pull, but the hydro is warm, and the cooler is equally warm on the inlet too, so oil is flowing through the cooler.
Need to take the 3pt lift cylinder apart & put in new seals. The guy I got the tractor from said he just had his brother rebuild the cylinder.....bro didn't do it right though. It's keeping the top of the diff wet with oil.
Looking good for plow day at Vevay, IN on April 16th!

Went ahead & pulled the lift cylinder apart. The shaft end seal plug's o-ring was torn in-two, plus the o-ring that seals on the shaft was too small and not sealing good on the shaft. NO leaks now and hope it stays that way. Everything seems great, but before Vevay plow day, I wanna put a good load on it for a while to be double sure. May make a heavy drag & weight it down. Here's a pic of the NOS hydro & diff installed.

Both o-rings I put in are a bit small, cross section wise, but stopped the leak just the same. If it starts leaking again, I'll have to go to "General Rubber & Plastics" & get thicker o-rings.

May I suggest using a green tractor for this purpose?

Great idea Alan. meangreen wants to "hook em" anyway, so that would be a good way to warm my hydro, dragging that JD430 backwards for an hour or so!:bigrofl::bigrofl:...........:poke:...........:smilewink::smilewink:
