Have you tried oven cleaner to remove the paint.

I used it on a GT tranny a few weeks ago. Pretty impressed

with it.

E tank that sucker.. No more fighting it.. Done in a day.. then a fast rinse and wipe down.. Then coat it.  Those wire wheels are pain inducing..

Well got the grill guard done and put back on today. I had some pics before it was primed and painted but my camera card got corrupted and I lost those pics.. Took some after we got it back the truck tonight.  Thanks for the ideas and interest in this project. It is not the best but hopefully after putting the rust inhibitor on it and then priming and then painting it waill last at least three years again.                                        Roger.
