It started snowing yesterday about 3:30pm, just a lite little snow. At about 7:30pm it started to rain, just a little drizzle. It was still comming down when i went to bed at 12:30am. I called the boss this morning and told him i would not be in, the roads were too bad. Well a pic is worth a 1000 words and a vid is worth a thousand pics. This happened about 300 yards above my house at an intersection. The truck pulled out of the road onto my road. the raod he pulled out of was fairly clear, my road wasnt. He said it just kept sliding. When the state trooper got there he pulled infornt of the truck, put it in park and got out of his car. When he closed the door his car slid off the road and had to be pulled out. The big tow trucks could not get any traction. The gray one in the vid slid off the road while tring to pull the truck out. They ended up using snach blocks and trees as anchors. Before it was over there was a total of 6 vehichles that had to pulled out. 1 big truck, 1 tow truck, 1 roll back, 1 state trooper, 2 pick up trucks that couldnt stop in time.

There was no injuries and the only thing hurt was the tie rod on the big truck

Here are two vids of how crappy it was.

You sure did the right thing! Unless you have chains on all 4 tires, there's no business attempting ice driving, but I know you already know that! Ice is scary stuff, not to be messed with.

You made the right choice. Tire chains can help on ice but from your pictures the best decision is to not venture out when the conditions are that bad.

No problems with me staying home, but its nice to have pics to prove the reason. kinda like a Drs note. It always amazes me when all the news stations tell people to stay home, the DOT says it, the HP says it and so does your neighbor, people still want to get out and ride around. I can understand riding around in the snow, but ice! There are still people going up and down the road now. I guess they have watched Ice road truckers enough that feel like they can do it too.

Rain in the winter scares the heck out of me. I like curling, but it shouldn't involve vehicles. Good call on staying home.
